A slow start Monday ultimately led to the JV Beavers’ defeat as Conneaut came away with a 36-21 win.
Conneaut outscored Corry 11-2 in the first quarter of action, which set the tone for the rest of the game.
“The first half, we played sluggish,” coach Ryan Mumau said. “We didn't play with our normal defensive intensity. Offensively, we had some good looks at the hoop but just couldn't get them to fall.”
Conneaut led 20-7 at half.
The Eagles outscored the Beavers 16-14 in the second half of play as Corry played better all around ball, especially in the fourth quarter as Corry started creating opportunities and the shots started to fall. Unfortunately for Corry it was too little too late.
Reagan Porter led the way for Corry with seven points, a steal and an assist. Lindsey Hasbrouck had six points with a team high seven rebounds. Kaycee Porter and Kaygen Rogers each had four points. Corry heads to Warren on Thursday.
