Harold L. “Bub” Cochran, 83, of Bear Lake, Pa., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023,at Saint Vincent Hospital, Erie, Pa.
He was born Feb. 18, 1939, in Bear Lake, Pa., a son of the late William and Zoah (Hankin) Cochran.
Bub was raised in Bear Lake and attended Panama Central School, Class of ‘57, until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, he married the love of his life, Arlabelle Nelson, on July 1, 1961. Bub worked at MFG Boat Co. in Union City, building and testing motorboats and sailboats. He later worked at Raymond’s Manufacturing in Corry, and most recently was self employed as an express truck driver until his retirement.
He was a lifetime member of the Big Tree Sportsman’s Club and a NSSA member. In the past, he enjoyed racing sailboats. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and skeet shooting. Bub loved football, and was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan.
In addition to his parents, Bub was preceded in death by his wife, Arla who passed away March 8, 2001; two sisters, Ruth Savko and Kathleen Schenckl; and a brother, William Cochran.
Bub is survived by his loving family, daughter, Vanessa Green and her husband Larry of Ashville, N.Y.; son Harold Cochran Jr. and his wife Tena of Bear Lake, Pa.; six grandchildren, Megan (Kris) Hirsch of Ashville, N.Y., Erin (Joel Williams) Green of Ashville, N.Y., Kirsten ( Eric) Rockwood of Lake City, Pa., Harold Cochran III of Warren, Pa., Chad Cochran and Brandon Cochran, both of Bear Lake, Pa.; two great-granddaughters, Deidre Green and Carina Rockwood; and one great-grandson, Brandon Hirsch.
Family and friends are invited to call at Bracken Funeral Home Inc., 315 N. Center St., Corry PA 16407, on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at noon. Pastor Les Utegg will officiate.
