MILLCREEK — Corry’s girls played well in the first half against powerful McDowell in last night’s season-ending soccer match.

The Lady Beavers trailed just 2-0 at halftime. McDowell then charged to a 7-0 Region 4 win to end Corry’s year.

The Lady Beavers finish up at 3-10-1 in the league, 4-13-1 overall.

Playoff-bound McDowell stands 12-2 and 15-3, respectively.

“The girls played very well, especially in the first half,” reported coach Gary Hogue. “Our defense was trying to hold back the Trojans’ strong offense.

“Our offense struggled,” he admitted. “Our seniors will be missed.

“We are looking forward to next season,” said Hogue. “We will be getting together in the off-season to work on conditioning.

“We will also participate in a tournament at Penn State in the winter,” he added.

Shelby Liller was yesterday’s keeper. McDowell used three goalies to record the shutout.

Seniors in their last match were exchange student Thea Weibel, Sarah Zaczkiewicz, Haley Clapp, Megan Goska, Melanie Parker, April Sterling, Emily Baker, Maiju Leppajarvi and Kat Pope.
