ALTOONA — The Erie SeaWolves turned a triple play and won their third straight game as they erased an early deficit, taking down the Altoona Curve 6-4 on Wednesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Erie turned the triple play as Altoona (35-57) had runners on first and second with no outs in the seventh inning. The runners took off on the pitch and Elias Diaz lined out to right fielder Steven Moya before Moya gunned down the runner at first. First baseman Corey Jones fired a throw to second baseman Marcus Lemon to get the runner scrambling back to second.

Erie improved to 42-49 on the season as the SeaWolves are 91/2 games behind second-place Akron in the Western Division standings.

Altoona jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Moya ripped a two-run triple and scored on a groundout in the fourth inning. Lemon tied the game in the fifth inning with a run-scoring single before Daniel Fields came up with another RBI to give the Wolves a 5-4 lead. Erie added a run on a wild pitch in the eighth.

Erie plays one more game tonight in Altoona before a four-game home set versus Binghamton.
