TITUSVILLE — Corry’s baseball team had a  chance to use some of its younger players Saturday at Titusville and the freshmen helped contribute to an 11-4 win.

Joe Richardson had two hits and Brendan Zajac made his varsity pitching debut in the win as the Beavers evened their record at 5-5.

Nick Marrs pitched five effective innings for the win, allowing 10 hits, one earned run and one walk. Zajac pitched the final two frames, fanned three and allowed an unearned run.

Richardson was 2 for 4 with two runs batted in.

Tanner Martin posted three hits, William Hayes with two doubles and three RBI.

Corry trounced Titusville in the JV game, 13-0.

Branden Elchynski pitched three shutout innings with seven strikeouts. Nathan Gentilman pitched two hitless innings, fanning three.

Gentilman had a single, double and triple in the 14-hit attack. Zack Lesher collected three singles, Zajac with two. Lesher — another freshman — scored a run in the varsity game.

“I am very pleased with the performance of this team so far this year,” said coach Adam Brewer. “Every player has been a huge contributor this season.”
