CLYMER, N.Y. — After being tied at the half, Clymer’s boys couldn’t stay with Maple Grove in losing 67-52 in a Division 2 West basketball game.
“After a slow first quarter, we played well in the second quarter to go to half tied,” claimed coach Irv King. “We attached the basket and took care of the ball in that quarter.
“In the second half Maple Grove outran us and picked up a batch of easy baskets,” he admitted. “Thirteen second half turnovers were more than we could overcome.”
Peter Auer scored 30 points for Maple Grove who improved to 3-4 overall, 2-3 in the league. Darius Jones added 16 points in the win.
Hunter Wassink led the Pirates (4-6, 2-4) with 19 points. Zavon Overton and Bishop Kopta each had 10.

Matthew White had six rebounds and six steals, Overton with seven boards and Wassink five. Connor Beal blocked two shots.

Maple Grove won the JV game, 44-38. Micah Willink and Trey Von Kopta each had 11 points while Owen White had four steals.
