The DuBois at Corry football game is big this weekend.
Perhaps bigger is the Region 5 showdown with first place Grove City hosting Slippery Rock. Both teams are 4-0 in the league.
And, Grove City hosts DuBois next Friday.
The Eagles, 77-0 winners over Corry, are rated No. 3 in the state in Class AAA.
There’s an interesting Region 2 contest on tap tonight where 5-0 Saegertown plays 4-1 Mercyhurst Prep at Erie’s Veterans’ Stadium.
Saturday offers another game of interest when Strong Vincent (6-1) hosts North East, 6-1 with its lone loss to Corry. That game is also at the stadium.
The “second season” is about to begin in New York state.
In the Class DD semifinals, undefeated Chautauqua Lake hosts Ellicottville on Friday night. The Thunderbirds won the first meeting, 22-6.
On Saturday afternoon, Clymer travels to nearby Panama. The Panthers won the first game, 33-22. Clymer, which led 16-6 after one quarter, threw five interceptions that afternoon.
Panther Tyler Marsh rushed for 229 yards on 26 carries while Clymer’s Todd Phelps had 144 yards and two touchdowns.
The DD winners advance to the Section 6 finals at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
