ERIE — It had been 35 years since Warren last won a District 10 baseball championship.
The Dragons of coach Jeff Passaro, denied in the finals by Corry two years ago, registered a 2-0 win over Cathedral Prep in the Class AAA final game Monday at Ainsworth Field.
The Dragons (16-3) captured their first title since 1977 when Ted Wozneak lead the way.
Warren senior Hank Morrison tossed an eight-hit shutout, escaping trouble several times. He matched Prep’s James Lauria pitch for pitch through five scoreless innings. In the top of the sixth, Matt Jaskolka had a one-out single and stole second. He advanced to third on a wild throw and scored on Preston McMeans' RBI single. No. 9 batter Kory Thomas followed with a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead.
