Corry's middle school girls basketball team tasted defeat earlier this week, falling at Fairview in a low-scoring contest, 16-11.

Corry trailed 8-2 after one quarter and 12-4 at the half.

"This was a tough game, Fairview has a strong program and has good fundamentals," admitted coach Ryan Mumau. "They jumped out early on us and ended up holding on for the win. I liked how our girls didn’t give up.

"We battled hard in the second half but just couldn’t get enough shots to fall," he said. "As a team our shots just weren’t falling.

"I also liked how our defense kept us in the game by holding them to four points in the second half," Mumau stated. "This game showed us some things that we need to improve on and I know the girls are anxious to get in the gym to start working on them."

Grace Allen led the scoring with seven points, Haley Mumau and Regan Kemp with two apiece.

Rylee Nickerson collected five rebounds, Mumau four and Allen three.

Allen had three blocks, Nickerson with four steals, Mumau three and Kemp two.

Lily Light and Alison Yetzer both made one steal, Katelyn Mulvin with one rebound.
