LOWVILLE — Union City won two overtime bouts but it wasn’t enough as the Bears fell to Seneca 39-20 in a region 3 match on Wednesday.

Union City received three forfeits but the Bobcats won nine of the 14 weight classes.

After Jesse Vazquez pulled out a 7-6 overtime win over Brian Fenno at 189 pounds, there was a rematch of the Saegertown Tournament finals at 215.

That pitted Union City’s undefeated Jared Burger versus Seneca’s Matt Mongera, a former member of the Corry Kids program.

Last Saturday, Burger pulled out a 4-1 decision for the title.

This time, the tense match went OT before Burger prevailed, 3-2.

Heavyweight Greg Reinke followed with a pin in 65 seconds over Brad Beiter.

Shane Rankin (112) and Josh Reinke (130) got the forfeits.

UC has a non-region match at Franklin tonight.
