The Warren County League will not hold playoffs this year. Union City will travel to Youngsville to play Post 658 in the final game of the regular season and will give Union City its 12 league games need to be eligible for the Region 8 tournament.
Union City will be the league’s sole representative in the region tournament that starts on Friday July 20. UC will be the No. 1 seed from Warren County and will play the No. 2 seed from Elk County at 2 p.m. Friday at the Northwestern High School field in Albion.
Corry Northwest, Warren Post 135 and Youngsville Post 658 had to drop out of the Region 8 tournament due to a lack of players available to field a team. For Northwest/Post 365, they would have had enough players for the Friday game but would not have enough for a team on Saturday due to vacations, travel baseball and the Corry 7 on 7 football camp.
000200000343000009AE33D,Northwest/Post 365 has offered to play Union City in a scrimmage at a date and time to be determined next week to let their pitchers get some work prior to the tournament and to have another game where Union City can get more comfortable with using the wood bats, which are the only bats allowed in the Region 8 tournament.
