ALTOONA — Corry had three placewinners, and Shane Taubert came away a champion Saturday at the Sheetz Holiday Wrestling Classic at Penn Cambria High School.

Corry finished 16th in the team standings, with Berlin Brothersvalley winning the overall title.

“We may have not done so well as a team at this tournament, but we had some great individual efforts,” said coach Greg Barnett.

“Shane Taubert (170 pounds) made some people sit up and take notice, when he came in as the third seed and left a champion,” he pointed out. “There is one word to describe Shane's performance at this tournament — explosive. For the last two years that I have coached Shane, he has wrestled very conservatively. But he was able to hang with every top gun he came across.
