WATTSBURG — Corry's ninth graders were 48-39 winners at Seneca on Friday and improved to 3-4 on the basketball season.
Josh Schrecengost had an outstanding game canning 21 points to go with three assists and two steals, He nailed three 3-point baskets.
Brody Wood had 10 points, five blocked shots, two steals and two assists. Bailey Patten was solid again with eight points, three steals two rebounds and three assists.
Zach Shopene is playing more coming off an injury and contributing more. He had four points and two boards. Doug Eck led the rebounding with seven. He also had three points, two rebounds and a pair of steals. Tyler Volz contributed four rebounds, two points and two assists, plus a blocked shot.
"I tell the kids that the first and third quarters are the key to being successful," said coach Omar Chase. "We outscored Seneca by 16 points in those quarters.
"Our full-court pressure defense was outstanding," he noted. "These kids get after it on defense, We shared the basketball, we had 12 total assists."
No reports were submitted on time for the seventh or eighth grade games. Both teams lost.
Today, the three Corry teams host Harbor Creek.
