Hunting since the age of 12, Ervin Byler, a 30-year-old Amish businessman from Spartansburg recently had the opportunity to fulfill a lifetime dream when his name was drawn for one of only 10 archery bull elk permits awarded for the 2020 state archery hunting season.

Byler's dream came true when he took down a magnificent 6x6 bull on the fourth day of his hunt, Sept. 17, in Driftwood, Cameron County.

The bull was shot from 21 yards with a Bear Super Kodiak 62-pound Recurve Bow and was estimated to weigh 750 pounds.
