ERIE — One goal stood up for Corry’s girls yesterday in soccer action at Veterans Stadium.
April Sterling connected in the second half as the Lady Beavers prevailed, 1-0, in Region 4 play.
Corry is now 2-4 in the league and 3-6 overall. East slips to 0-6 and 0-7, respectively.
Shelby Liller was the shutout keeper making 14 saves for the Orange and Black.
“This was a big lift to the team,” reported coach Gary Hogue. “We dominated on offense with 20 shots on goal.
“April scored the winning goal for us a minute into the second half,” he noted. “And the defense kept us in the game with Shelby recording the shutout.
“We are looking forward to our first home game tomorrow at Sheen Field,” Hogue stated.
Thursday’s match is against McDowell (7-2), varsity starting at 4 p.m.
