LAWRENCE PARK — Make it back-to-back Region 4 baseball titles for Union City.

The Bears coasted to the championship Wednesday with an 11-0 win in five innings over Iroquois.

Nate Soliwoda pitched a one-hitter, striking out a dozen and walking just one.

UC, finishing 10-2 in the region, scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back.

It was 10-0 headed to the fourth.

Seven different players had hits for the Bears, Shane Uber with a double and three runs batted in.

Andrew Hoban, Bronnan Higley and Lucas Thomas scored twice, Higley and Austin Jaquith both with a pair of RBI.

Hoban walked twice and stole three bases.

Union City now heads to the District 10 Class AA playoffs.

The Bears will play the winner of Friday’s first-round game between Saegertown and Mercer. That quarterfinal contest is Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Erie’s Ainsworth Field.

The semifinals are on Thursday, May 23, and the finals on Memorial Day Monday (May 27).
