UNION CITY — Playing on its home course, the Union City Country Club, the UC boys golf team placed fourth of six schools in Region 3 mega match action on sunny, pleasant Thursday.

Union City had a 362 total to trail Linesville (314), Meadville (320) and Saegertown (345). Cambridge Springs (363) was fifth and Maplewood (479) a distant sixth.

Ryan Hazlett was low for the Bears with an 85, Justin Miller at 88 and Bryan Landis 89.

Kyle Jones came in with an even 100, lefty Matt Lowther carded 108 and Evan Dougherty 116.

Leading Linesville were Seb Hutman (78), Dakota Tabar (79) and Cody Slevin (81).

Meadville’s Chris Allegretti was the medalist with a 76. Ty Sheehan added 80 for the Dogs.

In the Region 3 standings, Linesville leads with 12 points followed by Meadville (10), Saegertown (8), Union City (6), Cambridge Springs (4) Maplewood (2).

Meadville hosts the next mega match on Monday.

ERIE — Union City’s girls golf team placed sixth of eight schools in Region 2 action Thursday at Gospel Hill.

McDowell led the way at 178. Mercyhurst Prep and North East tied at 191.

Union City’s total was 229.

For the Lady Bears, Megan Kimmy and Savanna Dawson both carded 51s, Jennifer Bowes with 64.

Corry’s boys have a Region 5 mega match today at Girard with Fairview, Fort LeBoeuf, general McLane, Iroquois, North East and Seneca.

The match is at the Beechwood Golf Course.
