HARBOR CREEK — It’s not easy being two places at once, but Corry’s Liam Cragg and Ryann Brundage pulled it off at Thursday’s Erie County Classic at Paul J. Weitz Stadium.

Cragg, a senior, won both the triple and high jumps, and was second in the javelin. He did not compete in the long jump.

Brundage, just a sophomore but the District 10 defending champion in the javelin, set a meet record with her toss of 136-5. That bettered the previous mark set by Fort LeBoeuf’s Abby Rose (136-1) from 2014.

It also bettered her own school record.

She had to run from the high jump to javelin since they were going on at the same time.

Cragg also had to move from one end of the facility to the other. Still, he won the triple jump (43-3 1/4) and high jump (6-3). He threw a personal best 172-6 in the javelin.

“Just when you think you have gotten the most out of some of these guys, they surprise you with even more,” said boys coach Andy Passinger. “Liam won the triple jump, then had to have a jump-off in the high jump, which he won. Then he followed it up with an impressive javelin throw for second, and only 5 1/2 feet away from a state qualifying throw . He was absolutely amazing to watch.

“Tye Hannon looked smooth as water in the 800, running an impressive 2:01. States is only 4 seconds less,” he noted. “We are excited about his potential at districts. In the same race, Michael Dorn qualified, too, which was really exciting.”

The boys were seventh and the girls fifth in team points.

“We had all kinds of medals jingling after this last invitational, some personal records were blown up and the kids had a fun time,” said coach Andy Potocki.” It was a great way to finish the regular season.

“We had some great performances,” he claimed. “Obviously, Ryann breaking her own school record (and meet record) was a special performance indeed. We are gearing up for a week of practice to prepare for the District 10 Meet at Spire next Saturday.”

For Union City, Alyssa Boyd won the 800, Sarah Toy was fourth in the high hurdles with the same time as the second and third-place girls. She was second in the triple jump. Olivia Trauner was third in the 3200 and Abby Anaya third in the 1600.
