NAPA’s women suffered their first loss in the French Creek Valley League with Monday’s 7-3 setback against Cambridge Springs.
NAPA failed to push a run across with bases loaded and no outs in the first inning. Janel Pike led off with a double, Carrie Hall had a single and Lindsey Smith walked. A fielder's choice at home got the first out, followed by a pop out and a line out to end the threat.
NAPA scored in the second to tie the game at 1. Jackie Joy was hit by a pitch, pinch runner Caitie Weber advanced to third on a fielder's choice and came home on a throwing error.
The fourth inning was the difference in the game, with Cambridge blasting two home runs, including a three-run shot by Shelley Haefner.
NAPA made one last shot in the fifth, scoring two runs off singles by Nicole Glass, Hall, Lindsey Smith and a two-run double by Kayla Hansen.
NAPA again had bases loaded in the sixth, but failed to capitalize.
Pike had a single and double, Hall and Smith with two singles.
Nicole Glass took the loss allowing 10 hits and five walks with one strike out.
No reports were received on any other games.
