SARNIA, Ontario — Jake Marchment scored three goals in the second period, and Connor McDavid's goal snapped a tie midway through the third period, to lead the Erie Otters to a 6-5 win against Sarnia in Game 3 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series Sunday night at RBC Centre.

The Otters now lead the best-of-7 series 2-1 heading into Game 4 on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. in Sarnia.

Marchment's hat trick sparked a four-goal middle period that turned a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 lead.

The Sting rallied to tie it at 5 on early third-period goals from former Otter Hayden Hodgson and Troy Lajeunesse. But McDavid scored his second goal of the playoffs with 10:37 left to give the Otters the lead for good.

Dylan Strome scored twice for the Otters.

Marchment's three goals in a span of 3:23 shattered the franchise record for the fastest three goals in a playoff game after totaling four goals in 29 regular-season games with the Otters.

Cory Pecker set the previous mark of 14 minutes, 14 seconds against Windsor on April 21, 2002.
