CLYMER, N.Y. — After a slow start, Clymer's boys basketball team got rolling in the second half and coasted to a 56-26 league victory over Panama on Friday.

The Pirates improved to 4-0, while Panama fell to 0-3.

"We were sluggish early in the game," admitted coach Irv King. "We had our first night where the shots didn't seem to want to drop. We switched to a man-to-man defense and the game changed midway through the second quarter.

"The guys played with much more intensity and some steals led to easy baskets in transition," he noted. "It wasn't a pretty win by our standards but the guys definitely dug in and grounded this one out."

Hunter Wassink paced the scoring with 22 points to go with four rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Weston Hepler had eight points and seven boards.

Matthew White grabbed nine rebounds, Bishop Kopta five. He also made five steals.

Micah Willink had four rebounds and a pair of blocks. Ethan McIntyre contributed five points and three boards.

Panama won the JV game, 60-33. Kaden Beckerink had 12 points and 11 rebounds in defeat. Jonathan Massing produced eight points with 11 boards.
