ERIE — After 10 games without a home run, Erie’s Billy Nowlin took things into his own hands on Tuesday night at Jerry Uht Park.
Nowlin homered twice, solo shots in the second and four innings, as the Wolves doubled up the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 4-2, before 2,882 fans.
Erie defeated Richmond by the same score on Monday.
Nowlin, playing first base, was 3 for 4 and was Erie’s first multi-homer game since Bryan Pounds went deep twice July 6.
Erie improved to 62-74 and dropped Richmond to 64-71.
Pounds recorded a two-run double in the bottom of the first off Squirrels starter Craig Westcott (3-3), the first of the third baseman’s three hits.
Erie pitcher Anthony Shawler ( 5-3) pitched seven innings for the win. Lefty Jay Voss getting his first save throwing the ninth.
Erie hosts Richmond again tonight and Thursday before four final games at home versus Akron.
