Bears upset Tigers

UNION CITY — Hoping to make a statement in the final week of the season, Union City’s boys basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to knock off Maplewood 46-43 Tuesday in the final home game of the season.

That snapped a three-game win streak for Maplewood, who falls to 4-3 in the region.

Union City is now 2-5 in the league and 2-19 overall with a game at winless Youngsville on Friday.

Alex Hoban had a big night for UC making four 3-point baskets and finishing with a season high 22 points. His prior high was 19 against Linesville. He had eight points in the last quarter,

Drake Burgess netted 10 points for the Bears.

Justin Dahl drained five 3-balls for Maplewood and had 17 points.

Union City won the junior varsity game, 52-37.
