NORTH EAST — General McLane remained the top dog in Region 5 golf while host North East took second place in yesterday’s mega-meet at Lakeview Country Club.
Led by Garrett Rodgers’ 1-under-par 71, McLane had 313 total strokes to 337 for NE and 342 for Fairview. Fort LeBoeuf was fourth at 342, followed by Corry (358), Seneca (394), Girard (405) and Iroquois (433).
For Corry, Matt Kellogg carded a 84, Tommy Huff 89 and Mitchell Burrows 91.
Austin Gillihan posted a 94, Levi Berkhous 105 and Colin Barbish 110.
Kellogg Matt is now ranked 15th in the Region 5 currently and has a chance in the Sept. 25 qualifier to make it to districts. The top seven are automatically in, and then 48 kids will play for five spots at Scenic Heights on that date.
McLane leads the region with 39 team points, Fairview is second with 35 and Fort LeBoeuf ranks third (28). Then comes North East (27), Corry (20), Seneca (16), Girard (9) and Iroquois (6).
