MILLCREEK — Erie had too much firepower for Corry’s boys 11-year-old all-stars Saturday afternoon as the local lads fell 11-5 and dropped into the loser’s bracket in play at Walnut Creek School.
Erie got a three-run homer in the second inning and then a key grand slammer by A.J. Pusher in the fifth.
“Too many errors (six) and too many runners left in scoring position (eight) led to the downfall,” admitted coach Joe Marrs. “It was definitely a different team than on Thursday.
“They hit the ball hard, line shots,” he added. “We only struck out twice, but we couldn’t get a break.”
Jimmy Donaldson had three hits, Logan Triscuit two. With one were Greg Ingram, Jack Gill, Alex Sabat and J.P. Goodsel.
Goodsel was the starting pitcher going 1 1/3 innings for six runs. Jack Gill went 2 1/3 for one run. Logan Triscuit worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth but gave up the grand slam HR in the fifth.
Gill fanned three, Triscuit two.
Corry plays tomorrow against the winner of tonight’s game between Iroquois and LeBoeuf. Games continue Wednesday and Thursday for the winners.
