ERIE — The SeaWolves opened up their post-All-Star break schedule with a 5-3 win over the Altoona Curve Thursday at UPMC Park.

The win snapped Erie’s six-game losing streak to the Curve.

The SeaWolves struck first in the opening frame as Daniel Pinero had a two-run double for a 3-0 lead.

Erie added to the lead in the fourth when Pinero blasted a solo home run for a 4-0 lead. The HR for Pinero was his seventh.

SeaWolves starter Logan Shore was brilliant for the second straight start. He began his outing by hurling five scoreless before the Curve got on the board with a run in the sixth.

0002000007800000025177A,Erie responded in the seventh when Sergio Alcantara sent a solo blast to right-center, his second home run of the season, for a 5-1 lead.

Altoona attempted to rally in the ninth scoring twice against Erie reliever Will Vest.

Shore (3-7) earned the win in his second straight quality start. He allowed an unearned run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts in six innings. It was the first win for Shore since May 12.

The SeaWolves (14-5 in the second half) and Curve (12-7) meet in the second game of the series on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Tarik Skubal (0-0, 0.00 ERA) takes the mound for Erie.

It’s Angels-Era Replica Jersey Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans. The jerseys were worn during the 1999-2000 seasons and featured a red and navy blue script and block numbers.
