UNION CITY — The course was redesigned but the outcome the same yesterday for Union City’s cross country teams.

The boys and girls both won easily over visiting Seneca and Eisenhower.

The Lady Bears took three of the top four places and were sparked by the return of Montana Sparks in besting Seneca 22-35 and Ike, with just four runners, 15-48.

Vicky Bem over took Lori Beth Nunemaker and won the race with a time of 19:25. Nunemaker placed second, Becca Reichbaum fourth, Sparks seventh, Melissa Bem eighth and Brittany Kafferlin in ninth.

For the boys, UC downed Seneca 20-36 and Eisenhower, 24-31.

Kevin Klux led during the early going (see photo) but No. 1 man Taylor Hanlin worked his way to the lead and won the race in 17:29. Klus wound up third, Mike Wienczkowski seventh.

Steve Mangol was ninth and Tim Jackson 10th giving the Bears five runners in the top 10.
