14 Corry YMCA swimmers head to districts
Members of Corry's YMCA swim team are headed to Indiana University (IUP) this upcoming weekend to swim in the Western Pennsylvania District swim meet. At the meet, the top 12 individuals and top nine relays will advance to the YMCA state meet.
Swimming for Corry in the Cadet Division (10 & under) are Abbey Helmer 50 breaststroke seeded 25th with a time of 44.6; Allison Ahl 50 butterfly and seeded 13th at 37.47 and 50 freestyle seeded 11th with a time of 32.51; Nathan Labowski 50 freestyle seeded 39th at 34.46 and 50 breaststroke seeded eighth with a time of 44.08,
In the Prep class (11 & 12) are Brent Benedict 200 freestyle seeded second with a time of 2:03.54 and 100 freestyle second at 56.33; Alex Bowes 200 freestyle seeded 14th with a time of 2:24.79 and 100 freestyle 12th at 1:06.39; Donald Buell 50 breaststroke seeded 32nd with a time of 41.00; the 200 freestyle relay comprised of Brent Benedict, Donald Buell, Alex Bowes and Trenton Peterson seeded 10th with a time of 2:04.53
Swimming for Corry in the Junior Division (13-14) are; Eric Matteson 200 IM seeded 16th with a time of 2:25.82 (he swam 2:23.75 in high school), 100 breaststroke seeded fifth with 1:09.99 (swam 1:07.21); Laneya Mosher 200 IM seeded 16th at 2:32.84, 100 butterfly eighth with a time of 1:08.39; McKenna Haskins 100 freestyle in 32nd at 1:02.32, 50 freestyle 27th at 28.08; Rachel Labowski 100 breaststroke seeded 20th with a time of 1:20.33; and 200 freestyle relay of McKenna Haskins, Chelsea Mosher, Rachel Labowski and Laneya Mosher seeded seventh with a time of 1:51.53.
Swimming for Corry in the Senior Division (15-18) is standout Jake Stockton, in the 200 freestyle and seeded third with a time of 1:49.25 (1:47.39 in high school) and the 100 freestyle, seeded third with a time of 49.59 (48.58 for CAHS). The Corry Otters swim team is under direction of head coach Ryan Lawrence and assistant coach Tabitha Keister.
