ERIE — Corry’s boys basketball team may have found some instant offense in Thursday’s 67-43 loss at central Tech.

Junior Kolin Clark nailed a pair of 3-point baskets in period three, then rattled home four 3-balls in the final stanza good for 21 points.

Corry was 15 for 41 on 3-pointers, Clark going 7 for 10. Bryce Xander was 3 for 9.

Central (7-5) drilled a dozen 3-pointers as Derrick Clark led the way with five treys, all in the third quarter. The Falcons led 16-4 after one stanza.

“A lot of effort was put into this game on our side but we did not do enough,” claimed coach Tyler Bailey. “We played a 2-3 defense to eliminate penetration from the guards and make them shoot. At times we did a good job and went on runs, but could not keep a run going. We definitely had them doing what we wanted but couldn't always reward ourselves on offense.

“At times we play as a team and sometimes we don't,” he admitted. “As we know, when we play as a team we are at our best and I catch some of us taking shots that aren't there, and not making the extra pass. Everyone is going to get the chance to score and play at a high level if we just do what I want them to do within the offense.”

JP Goodsel had six rebounds and seven points.

“JP keeps getting better each game and it's very good to see,” said Bailey. “Austin Goodsel was a workhorse again and played a good tough game logging 30 out of 32 minutes. He has done a great job at the point while (Jordan) Ayala is out for a couple games. Cole Redrup has also been working hard and improving this season. His defense is incredible.

“Kolin Clark was a stand out, he did a nice job on defense as well and played the whole second half,” he said. “Defensively we need to keep working hard because, it is what is going to keep us in games. We need to always keep focus of what the plan is,” Bailey added.

• Central won the JV game, 68-35, although Corry shot 50 percent on 3-pointers, 7 for 14.

“We struggled getting back in transition defense and they took advantage,” said coach Rob Elchynski. “Daniel Buell did a great job against their 6-foot-4, 250-pound center getting five rebounds. Branden Elchynski dished out three assists and Cole Redrup had three steals.

“After the first quarter, we moved the ball well against a quick defense and had balanced scoring,” he noted. “We need to work on our quickness and getting ourselves in better position defensively.”

Corry has another road game on Saturday at Titusville. The JV start time has been moved up to 4 p.m.
