VENANGO — The Union City boys golf team has a five-point lead over second-place Saegertown in Region 3 play after winning a region mega-match on Monday at Venango Valley Inn and Golf Course.
The mega-match was hosted by the Saegertown team.
Union City won with a score of 331. It was Union City’s fourth win out of five mega matches.
Union City was followed by Saegertown with a score of 336, Conneaut Area High School with a score of 343, Cambridge Springs with a score of 349, Seneca with a score of 382 and Maplewood with a score of 422.
Tyler Parkhurst led Union City to victory with a low score of 77. He was followed by Cole DeSimone, who shot a 79; Josh James, who shot an 84; and Matt Yaple, who shot a 91.
Low scorers for the other teams were Saegertown’s Dylan Flinchbaugh (81), Conneaut’s Andrew McKalip (80), Cambridge Springs’ Walker Cunningham (82) and Seneca’s Joe Petrarca (88). Maplewood’s Chase Halsaver and Matt Bernoski each shot a 99.
Union City boys will host a Region 3 Mega-Match on Thursday at the Union City Country Club.
