Corry volleyball standout MEG (Mary Elizabeth) Goodsel has been recognized by the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) as a member the inaugural AVCA High School All-Region Teams.
Goodsel was named to the Region 2 team (one of 10 teams). Region 2 consists of nominees from D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
MEG Goodsel and Maddi Vona were two of the 894 athletes across the country to be nominated for 2019 Under Armour All-American consideration.
Goodsel was the senior setter for the Corry team that won its fourth District 10 championship this year and qualified for the PIAA state playoffs four consecutive years, helping the team win the PIAA State Title in 2016.
She was named to the Pennsylvania All-State team in 2018 (2019 All-State recognition hasn't been announced yet). Goodsel, who had 33 assists in Tuesday’s match against North Catholic, led the team with 919 assists this year and ranks second all-time in career assists and aces (2,279 and 213).
Goodsel’s older sister Brooklyn was named to the AVCA All-American first team in 2014.
