Brenda Ann Gainey, 50, of Vincent Road, Union City, Pa., died Saturday, April 3, 2021, at her home.
She was born Jan. 10, 1971, in Union City, Pa., a daughter of Patricia A. Wynn Ploss of Union City, Pa., and the late Frank E. Ploss.
Brenda was raised and educated in Mill Village and later at Fort LeBoeuf, where she graduated in 1989. She worked for various restaurants around the Union City area. She then married and stayed home to raise and care for her son, Brendan.
She was a member of the Fort LeBoeuf Football Boosters Club and enjoyed making flower arrangements and watching NCIS. Brenda loved her chihuahuas, singing karaoke with her sisters and shooting pool.
In addition to her father, Brenda was preceded in death by an uncle, Charles Ploss; an aunt, Gladys Garske; a sister, Nancy Wright; a brother, Frankie Ploss; and three brothers-in-law, Larry Fisher, Frank Daniel Loomis and Jason Southworth.
Along with her mother, Brenda is survived by her husband, James “Larry” Gainey, whom she married Oct. 31, 1998, in Kershaw, S.C.; a son, Brendan Gainey of Edinboro, Pa.; a stepson, Jamie Gainey and his husband Tim of Orlando, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Melody Shropshire and her husband Wayland of Kershaw, S.C.; six sisters, Becky Bunting and her husband Bruce of Cambridge Springs, Pa., Clover Salas of N.C., Susan Loomis of Union City, Pa., Laura Fisher of Corry, Pa., Tracy Morrison of Cambridge Springs, Pa., and Hillary Southworth of Corry, Pa.; and three brothers, Timothy Ploss and his wife Amy of Pa., Robin Ploss and his wife Penny of Florida, and Robert Ploss of Corry, Pa.
She is also survived by a grandson, Darius Shropshire, many nieces and nephews, aunt, uncles and a special aunt Betty Fay of Corry, Pa.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Relevant Church, 100 W. South St., Corry, Pa., on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service there at noon. Pastor Les Utegg will officiate. Due to CDC regulations, masks and social distancing will be required.
Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Pa.
