Arthur H. Barnard, 88, of Horseshoe Lane, Corry, Pa., died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa.

He was born August 7, 1923, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late Florence McGee Barnard.

As a young man, Arthur served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in reconnaissance, anti-tank and anti-aircraft artillery units during the American and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaigns.

Arthur was a longtime resident of Euclid, Ohio, where he worked and retired as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mazie Pearl Miller Barnard, on December 3, 2002.

He is survived by his beloved and cherished friends, Cheerful Anderson and David Anderson of Youngsville, Pa., and Bill Pizer and family of Corry, Pa.

Services were held on Thursday, February 16.

Burial was in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland, Ohio.

The Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, handled arrangements.
