Douglas M. Puckly, 55, of Cobb Road, Spartansburg, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Erie, Pa.
He was born Feb. 13, 1964, in Corry, Pa., a son of Frank and Theresa Jean Smith Puckly of Corry, Pa.
Doug was raised and educated in Corry and graduated from McDowell High School in 1982. He received a football scholarship from Slippery Rock University. He attended Slippery Rock for a year before moving to North Carolina where he attended Chiwan University where he also played football. Doug later moved to Virginia where he operated heavy machinery. In 1992, he returned to Corry and worked for Blakeslee Logging. Doug eventually owned and operated his own logging company, D & K Logging Inc.
He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. Doug enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and listening to his favorite band, 5 Finger Death Punch. He was an avid John Deere and Chevy enthusiast. Doug enjoyed spending time with his friends and would do anything to help them or anyone in need.
In addition to his parents, Doug is survived by his wife, Karen L. Benden Puckly, whom he married Dec. 26, 1993, in French Creek, N.Y.; a daughter, Stephanie Biltz and her husband Cory of York, Pa.; a sister, Francine Mathieson and her husband Dean of Mendon, Mass.; and two brothers, Mike Puckly and his partner Chris Cadiz of South Windsor, Conn., and Vince Puckly, of Corry, Pa.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., and attend the funeral service there on Saturday at 10 a.m. Deacon William Saborsky will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
