Robert H. Humphrey, 91, of Shawnee Avenue, Corry, Pa., passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Corry Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Corry, Pa., a son of the late Cecil and Bertha Pettengill Humphrey.
Robert graduated from Clymer Central School in 1942 and was soon drafted into the Army, serving in World War II. After leaving the service, he returned to the Corry, Pa., area, where he began his career as a carpenter. After he retired, his hobbies were golfing and metal detecting for old coins. He loved to go to Walmart frequently.
Robert was a loving, husband and father, and he very much enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy A. Humphrey, on Oct. 22, 2009. They were married on Feb. 22, 1947.
He is survived by his son, Jim Humphrey of Findley Lake, N.Y.; his daughter, Suzanne Carlson of Pompano Beach, Fla.; his grandchildren, Todd Humphrey of Fairview, Pa., Tracey Thomas of Erie, Pa., and Chuck Carlson III and Deanna Carlson, both of Pompano Beach, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Mary Alice Tatalone of Erie, Pa., and Hazel Bricker of Canton, Ohio; and one brother, Vernon Humphrey of Phoenix, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 27, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Spitzer Funeral Home, 8728 E. Main St., Clymer, NY. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
