Prudence M. Bardo Kuerner Caldwell

It is with much sadness that our family announces the death of our beloved Prudence M. Bardo Kuerner Caldwell on Monday, March 22, 2010 following an extended illness. Prudence was born to Carmella Comi and Charles Bardo on November 18, 1931.

Growing up she helped her parents run Bardo’s Market on Liberty Street. She graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1949 and went on to raise four children in their Harborcreek home. Our memories of our Mother will be her self-sacrificing love for her family.

Prudence, also known as Prue, was retired from Erie Insurance Exchange where she worked in Policy Holder records. She volunteered many hours at Lakeshore Railway Society preparing meals for patrons in the dining car and participating in the “Christmas at the Station” craft sale. Prudence was a member of Wesley Methodist Church and for many years attended a bible study lead by her dear friend, Yvonne Doerr.

She is survived by four children, Donald and Terri (Risjan) Kuerner of Connecticut, Theodore and Linda (Hejmej) Kuerner of Erie, Barry and Joy (Kowalski) Kuerner of New Port Richey, Fla. and Penny (Kuerner) and Matthew Duckett of Harborcreek; sisters, Sadie (Bardo) and Frank Randazzo and Anita (Bardo) Stiles of Erie, Carol (Bardo) and Bob Yochim of Texas; brother, Charles Bardo and Geri of Arkansas. She is survived by many grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
