Myrtle L. Ploss, 96, of White Street, Corry, Pa., died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at Corry Memorial Hospital, Corry, Pa.
She was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Union City, Pa., a daughter of the late Hammond and Mary Titch Loomis, and raised by her grandparents, William Titch and Lettie Titch Marsh.
Myrtle was raised and educated in Union City, Pa., and graduated from Union City High School. She then worked at Union City Chair, until she got married and stayed home to raise and care for her family.
She was a member of the Salvation Army Church and enjoyed volunteering by helping in the soup kitchen and ran the clothing room. When she wasn’t volunteering, Myrtle enjoyed reading and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Ploss; and a son, William Ploss.
Myrtle is survived by three daughters, Roxy Ann Derby of Jamestown, N.Y., Darlene Westerlund of Wyoming and Connie Yoder of Jamestown, N.Y. She is also survived by several grand- and great-grandchildren. She will especially be forever missed by Kevin and Victoria Derby and their children, Shannon, Tory, Addy, Lynsey and Eryn Derby and Alayna (Isaac) Shubert, whom she lived with and took care of her for 25 years.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Relevant Church, 100 W. South St., Corry, Pa., on Sunday at 2 p.m. Pastor Les Utegg will officiate. There will be a time of fellowship following the service. Due to CDC regulations, masks and social distancing will be required.
Burial will be held privately at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
