Albert 'Al' L. Thieme

Albert “Al” L. Thieme, 87, of Greeley Road, Corry, Pa., died Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Saint Vincent Hospital, Erie, Pa.

He was born in Findley Lake, N.Y., on Oct. 21, 1934, a son of the late Merle and Pearl Thomas Thieme.

Al was raised and educated in Findley Lake, N.Y., and was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Corry where he worked for Corry Foam, which later became Foamex. He was a pour line operator and retired in 2000. Al was a very hard worker throughout his entire life.

He was a member of Cutting Community Church in Cutting, N.Y. He was also a member of Street Machines Unlimited in Corry. Al was a very supportive father with his children and their hobbies. His family was his priority. Al enjoyed working on cars and showing his 1958 Ford Fairlane Interceptor, watching birds, mowing his yard, gardening, loved old tractors and enjoyed watching NASCAR races.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife, Althea J. Thieme whom he married on March 23, 1957, in Corry, Pa.; three brothers, Richard, James and Donald Thieme; grandson, Justin Davis; and granddaughter, Michelle Padget.

Al is survived by his three daughters, Deborah Plummer, and husband David, of Erie, Pa., Shirley Padget, of Lake City, Pa., Sharon Orr, and husband Robert of Churchville, N.Y.; one son, Albert L. Thieme Jr., and wife Sharon, of Spartansburg, Pa.; sister, Linda Kirin (George), of Corry, Pa.; four grandchildren, Karleen Amoroso, Trisha Sawyer (Tallon), Alanna and Andrea Orr; four stepgrandchildren, Shannon Truesdail, Dana McWilliams, Andrew and Nicole Plummer.

Al is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Allison, Kaden, Wyatt, Cali; and one great-great-granddaughter, Hailie; also by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Cutting Community Church, Cutting Road, Clymer, NY 14724, on Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Rick Maas will officiate.

Burial will be in Mina Cemetery, Sherman, NY 14781.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations sent to Erie County VA Hospital, 135 East 38th St., Boulevard, Erie, PA 16504.
