Willis E. “Bill” “Willie” Stroup, 71, of Baker Hill Road, Corry, Pa., died Saturday, October 29, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Stroup was born March 9, 1940, in Corry, a son of the late Willis Amos and Mildred Bell Dryer Stroup.
Willis was raised and educated in Columbus and Corry. He graduated from Corry High School in 1958 and worked for Stroup’s Gas Stations in Spring Creek and Corry before entering the U.S. Army. When he returned from the military, he began working for Raymond Manufacturing. He worked there for 36 years, retiring in 1996. In addition, he worked for Tonnard MFG for several years. He enjoyed raising beef cattle and cutting firewood on his farm on Baker Hill Road.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Dorothy Yoder Stroup; a sister, Rachael Klakamp; and a brother, Richard Stroup.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Stroup, whom he married July 18, 1987, in Corry; three daughters, Dianna Hackman and her husband, John, of Pittsfield, Pa., Kelly Davis and her companion, Vern Breauchy, of Corry, Pa., and Kim Huff and her husband, Herbert Jr., of Spartansburg, Pa.; three sons, Timothy Stroup of Corry, Keith Sliker and his companion, Pam Bebee, of Columbus, Pa., and Kenneth Sliker and his wife, Candy, of Corry; a sister, Linda Johnson of Pittsfield; a brother, Dennis Stroup and his wife Darice of Spring Creek; and his former wife, Roberta Messenger, of Corry.
Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours observed.
A private service will be held by the family.
The Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, is handling arrangements.
