Debbie J. Hajec, 52, of Route 426, Corry, Pa., died Sunday, September 25, 2011, at her residence.
She was born in Corry, Pa., on October 11, 1958, a daughter of Clara Darnofall Woodworth of Corry and the late James O. Woodworth.
Debbie was raised and educated in Corry and graduated from Corry Area High School in 1977. She then attended Edinboro University, where she attained her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1981. Debbie began teaching in the Corry Area School District’s elementary schools, and for the past several years, had been the Reading Recovery teacher at Columbus Elementary School.
She was a member of the West Spring Creek Congregational Church and taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school there. She also participated in the church choir and in the Ladies Aide. Debbie enjoyed being outdoors, making arts and crafts, going to the beach and especially spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her mother, Debbie is survived by her husband, Daniel E. Hajec, whom she married in Corry on September 26, 1981; a daughter, Kayla Hajec; and two sons, Zachary and Tyler Hajec, all of Corry, Pa.
She is also survived by two sisters, Betty Bowen and her husband, Walt, and Jacqueline Gatesman, all of Corry; three brothers, James E. Woodworth and his wife, Beverly, of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Robert Woodworth and his wife, Jessie, of Lincolnville, Pa., and John Woodworth and his wife, Diana, of Columbus, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend the funeral service there on Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Michael Sperry, pastor of the West Spring Creek Congregational Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the West Spring Creek Cemetery.
