Glenn Robert Straight, 84, of Clymer, New York, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at Corry Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 4, 1931, in Sherman, New York, the son of the late Willis C. and Ruth Silvernail Straight.
Glenn was a graduate of Sherman Central School Class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956, as Airman First Class. After serving in the Air Force he then went to Penn State Behrend, graduating in 1958, majoring in drafting and design technology. Glenn worked at many area shops, including Art Metal, Jamestown Metal Manufacturing, Blackstone Corporation and Dahlstrom Manufacturing. He was a member of the Abbe Reformed Church, where he served as a deacon. He was a founding member of the Brokenstraw Antique Tractor Club. Glenn also enjoyed horse pulls and truck shows.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor K. Oonk Straight of Clymer, N.Y., whom he married July 24, 1959; his children, Larry D. and Lorri Straight of Jamestown, N.Y., Bruce and Kimberly Straight, of Olean, N.Y.; and two grandsons, Tyler and Justin Straight, of Olean, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews; and by his brother-in-law, Harvey (Alberta) Oonk, of Clymer, N.Y.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine (Victor) Canfield; and two brothers, DeForest “Bill” (Dorothy) Straight and Louis (Betty Alice) Straight.
Services will be held at the convenience of family, no calling hours will be observed. Burial will be held in Holland Cemetery.
