Helen Louise “Kim” Hanna, 92, of Bridgeville, Pa., and formerly of Corry, Pa., passed away on Monday, March 9, 2015, in Bridgeville.
She was born on June 18, 1922, in Cresson, Pa., a daughter of the late Clarence J. and Ursula (Monahan) Kimlin.
Kim graduated from Cresson High School in 1940. She married Louis F. “Lou” Hanna on June 4, 1941, in Alexandria, Va. Following their marriage, they lived in Johnstown and then Masontown, Pa. They moved to Corry, Pa., in 1948, where Kim resided until 2006. From 2006 to 2012, Kim enjoyed living in Mercy Terrace Apartments in Erie until moving to Bridgeville.
In addition to raising five children, Kim volunteered with the St. Elizabeth’s Ladies Guild, Corry Fine Arts Council, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and the Corry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Corry YMCA, where she loved to swim and exercise, and was an avid golfer at the Corry Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lou, who died on Jan. 3, 1983, her sister, Jayne Kimlin; and her brother, John Kimlin.
Kim is survived by her five children and their spouses, daughter Linda L. Lloyd and her husband, Douglas, of Columbia, Md., son Michael J. Hanna and his wife, Mary Anne, of Geneva, N.Y., son James K. Hanna and his wife, Alice, of Venetia, Pa., daughter Rebecca L. Ryan and her husband, Terry, of Huntington, Vt., and daughter Kimellen Pizzingrilli and her husband, Steve, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Kim had nine grandchildren, Karlyn, Derek, Katie, Molly, Matt, Carrie, Greg, Michael and Kelly; and six great-grandchildren, Emilie, Maggie, Wells, Hurley, Duke and Michael. She is also survived by her brother, James Kimlin of Davidsville, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Prayer Vigil for the Deceased at 6:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, 27 W. Pleasant St., Corry, Pa. The Rev. Mark A. Hoffman, pastor of St. Thomas Church/St. Elizabeth Church, will preside.
Burial will take place at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery.
