Walter L. Miller Sr., 82, of Grand St., Corry, Pa., died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa.
He was born Dec. 29, 1936, in Spring Creek, Pa., a son of the late Everett Miller and Marie Wynn Miller Spencer.
As a young man, Walter worked in the area as a logger. He then served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1960 to 1962. Following his honorable discharge, he began working as a welder at Corry Jamestown in 1962 and worked there for over 30 years until his retirement.
Walter was a member of the VFW Post 264, the American Legion Post 365 and the Corry Central Labor Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and watching western movies. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Hulings; three brothers, Albert, Elton and Clyde Miller; and a grandson, Daniel Alexander Miller-Fox.
Walter is survived by his wife, Katherine M. “Kay” Madison Miller, whom he married Feb. 15, 1960, in Panama, N.Y.; three daughters, Anna Crouch of Corry, Pa., Tammy Still and her husband, Brock, of Spartansburg, Pa., and Crystal Pena and her husband, Philip, of Corry, Pa.; two sons, Walter Miller Jr., and Everett
“Hap” Miller both of Corry, Pa.; and a half-sister, Patricia Ploss of Union City, Pa.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Amanda, Kaila, Autumn, Terry, Kyle and Devin; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service there at 1 p.m. The Rev. Brian Eiss will officiate.
Burial will be held privately by the family.
