Arthur (Art) A. Carlson Jr., 76, of Route 6, Corry, Pa., died Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa.
He was born June 15, 1945, in Corry, Pa., the son of the late Arthur and Violet Carlson Sr.
Art was raised and educated in Corry, Pa., and graduated from Corry High School in 1963. Art was involved in farming his whole life helping on his family and neighbors’ farms. He also worked for Ajax Iron Works (Cooper Energy) as a pattern maker from 1964 until they closed in 1990. Art also owned and operated Art Carlson Building and Remodeling after Ajax closed. He operated the business full time and he never retired.
He was a member of the Columbus Community Church, Columbus, Pa. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, woodworking and keeping very busy.
In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death on Jan. 29, 2013, by his wife, Allene L. Utegg Carlson. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Carlson.
Art is survived by two daughters, Amy Utegg of Erie, Pa., and Kimberly Carlson of Pittsburgh, Pa., and three sons, Scott Carlson of Union City, Pa., Mark Carlson of Spring Creek and Thomas Carlson of Corry, Pa. He is also survived by two sisters, Jean Aldrich and her husband Larry of Seneca, Pa., and Barb Griglack of Florida.
Art is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to call at the Columbus Community Church, 66 W. Main St., Columbus, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service there at noon. Pastors Les Utegg and Larry Aldrich will officiate.
A private burial will be at the West Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, Pa.
