Martha ‘Marty’ Gabor LaRose

Martha “Marty” Gabor LaRose, 86, of Findley Lake, N.Y., passed away in her sleep on Jan. 7, 2021.  Marty was born in Ambridge, Pa., on Sept. 28, 1934, and grew up in Ambridge, graduating from Ambridge High School in 1952. She married Donald LaRose and moved to the “Little Pink House Down the Hill” in Findley Lake in June of 1955. Marty was initially a stay at home mom; Brownie, Girl Scout and Cadet Leader; and athletics coordinator; and an avid boater, fisher and skier. 

After her daughter graduated, Marty graduated from Jamestown Community College in Business Administration. Marty worked a number of jobs as a Stenographer, Transcriptionist, and in Food Preparation before returning to her love of sewing, and worked as a Seamstress in New York and Pennsylvania. 

Marty loved creating things, from sewing the majority of the early family clothes, to knitting, crocheting, macramé, beaded ornaments, and other handcrafts. She was always cheerful and fun loving and would always try to brighten up your day. She and Don also traveled all over North America.

Marty is survived by a daughter, Terrilyn Debra LaRose; sister, MaryAnn Gabor Wall (Wilmington, N.C.); brother, Chris Gabor (Aliquippa, Pa.); nieces and nephews, Theresa Bell (Carlyss, La.), Robert Bell (Ragley, La.), Techie Lancaster (Ewa Beach, Hawaii), MaryEileen Smith (Aliquippa, Pa). She is also survived by many grand nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at Spitzer Funeral Home in Clymer, N.Y.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or Findley Lake Fire Fighters would be appreciated.

Funeral services will be private.
