Richard A. Reed, 71, of West Main Street, Clymer, N.Y., and formerly of Delaware Street, Corry, Pa., died on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at Corry Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Feb. 4, 1944, in Corry, Pa., a son of the late John A. and Theresa Brown Reed.
Richard was raised and educated in Corry. As a young man, he worked for several local farmers and was a driver for the Corry Auto Auction. Later, Richard began working for Crestline Windows and retired from the shipping department after 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Corry Central Labor Club and Corry Moose Lodge, and a social member at the Corry VFW Post 264. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family and friends. He was also an avid collector of pig memorabilia.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death on Nov. 6, 2003, by his companion of over 30 years, Doris Eggleston Christensen; a grandson, Chevy Christensen and three great-grandchildren.
Richard is survived by two sons, Stacey Reed and his wife, Melissa, of Clymer, N.Y., and Scott Reed and his wife, Rebecca, of Corry, Pa.; a daughter, Jackie Christensen, of Corry, Pa.; and three brothers, Ronald J. Reed and his wife, Mary, of Meadville, Pa., Russell E. Reed and his wife, Marilyn, of Spartansburg, Pa., and Carl D. Reed and his wife, Fran, of Pinellas Park, Fla.
He is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service there at noon. Pastor Les Utegg, of the Relevant Church, Corry, Pa., will officiate.
Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Pa.
