Frances I. Whaley, 86, formerly of Gamma Road, Corry, Pa., died Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Corry Manor.
She was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Corry, Pa., a daughter of the late Earl and Ruth Warner Pierce.
Fran was raised and educated in Corry and graduated from Corry High School in 1950. After raising her family, she began employment with Corry Hiebert (Corry Jamestown Corp.) in the accounting department. She retired from there in 1993 after 26 years of service.
She was a member the First United Methodist Church and sang with the choir there. Fran enjoyed golfing, crocheting, knitting, bowling, singing and her cats.
In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death Oct. 31, 2013, by her husband, Don H. Whaley, whom she married May 29, 1953 in Clymer, N.Y.; a sister, Charlotte Pierce; and two brothers, Harold and Robert Pierce.
Fan is survived by four sons, Robert Whaley and his wife Pat of Seattle, Wa., John Whaley and his wife Angela, Richard Whaley and his wife Rose Anne and William Whaley and his wife Janet, all of Corry, Pa.; and a sister-in-law, Alice Pierce of Ocala, Fla.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, Rory and Abraham Whaley, Hannah Melton, Jennifer Bugbee, Kristen Winters and Travis Ferry; six great-grandchildren, Cierra, Brooke, Alex, Kiran, Lianna (LuLu) and Reese; three great great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Greyson and Emerson; and many nieces and nephews.
A date and time of the memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
