James L. Smith
James L. Smith, 65, of Columbus, Pa., died on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, at Corry Memorial Hospital.  
He was born in Erie, Dec. 1, 2021, the son of the late Norbert J. and Mary Ann Makowski Smith.
He graduated from Erie Central Tech in the class of 1973. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served with the Navy Seals for 10 years. He worked as a millwright for several years before having to retire due to health issues. He enjoyed tinkering with cars with his children, cleaning his guns and mowing his yard. He was noted for his “walking stick” and his leather hat and vest that were seen with him wherever he traveled.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pamala J. Fahey Smith; six sons, Roy, Jason, Mike, Derrick, Erick and Aaron; three daughters, Danielle, Jenette and Nichole (Miss Bad). He is also survived by a brother, a sister, 19 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at C.S. Warthman Funeral Home Inc., 69 N. Main St., Union City, on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 9 Third Ave., Union City, with the Rev. Matthew Strickenberger officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded at the church after the funeral Mass.
