Daniel L. Rowland Sr., 66, of East South Street, Corry, Pa., died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa.
Mr. Rowland was born March 29, 1945, in Corry, a son of the late Richard and Charlotte Scoville Rowland Sr.
He was raised and educated in Corry and over the years, he worked for several businesses including Wing Heating Company and Campbell Soup Company, where he was a salesman.
Mr. Rowland had a lifelong involvement in the car business. He purchased Dick’s Used Cars on Route 426 (Spring Creek Highway) from his father and continued to operate the dealership until 1996.
He enjoyed all types of car racing. Mr. Rowland was an avid deer hunter and also enjoyed visiting the Corry Senior Center. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Rowland is survived by two sons, Daniel L. Rowland Jr. and his wife, Tanya, and Richard Rowland, all of Corry; a sister, Sherry Herrmann and her husband, Rick, of Rockford, Tenn.; two brothers, Richard "Dexter" Rowland and his wife, Sayda, and Robert Rowland and his wife, Brenda, all of DeLand, Fla.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Les Utegg, of the Columbus Community Evangelical Church, officiating.
Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Pa.
Friends and family are invited to the Corry Moose Lodge for food at 12:30 p.m. following services.
