Nola Yoas Coates, 101, passed away at her home on March 30, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on the family farm in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 16, 1919.
She was a home economics teacher for over 30 years in the Sparta, Youngsville and Union City schools; and enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking and traveling.
Nola was married on Sept. 1, 1945, to Sgt. Emery Coates of Spartansburg. Shortly thereafter, they moved to a farm in Corry, where she lived for the past 70 years. She was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Corry, Pennsylvania, for over 60 years.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ai O. Yoas and Elizabeth Best Yoas; three brothers; four sisters; and her son-in-law, George Andersen.
Surviving are her daughters, Annette Coates of Virginia and Darlene Andersen of Minnesota; grandson, Mark Andersen; granddaughter, Elizabeth Christianson and her husband Doug; and a great-grandson, Noah Christianson.
A private family service will be held in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
Burial will take place at Round Top Cemetery, Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, 201 E. South St., Corry, PA 16407.
